WESTERN CAPE- Swift police action upon information received yielded success when suspects were arrested and detained in separate incidents for possession of drugs and a stolen motor vehicle.
On Friday, 24 June 2022 police members deployed at Cape Town International Airport, received information about a possible drug courier on an aircraft from Dubai. Upon disembarking, the police members profiled and searched certain passengers. Two passengers were identified and drugs confiscated found hidden in the soles of their shoes. A man aged 19 and a female aged 30 was arrested and detained on a charge of dealing in drugs.
On Saturday, 25 June 2022, members of operation Restore deployed in Delft, responded to information and proceeded to an identified premises in Kuyper Crescent in Extention 19, Belhar. During the search at the premises they confiscated mandrax tablets, methamphetamine and cash. A 63-year-old female was arrested and detained on a charge of dealing in drugs.
In an unrelated incident members of Maitland Flying Squad received information about a vehicle taken during a house robbery on Saturday in Claremont. Whilst busy with patrols on Sunday, 26 June 2022, they spotted the vehicle and intercepted the vehicle near the corners of Bluegum and Kiaat Roads in Bontheheuwel. Two males aged 20 and 26 were arrested and detained on a charge of possession of a stolen motor vehicle.
Once charged the suspects are expected to make their respective court appearances in Bellville and Bishop Lavis on the mentioned charges.
