Use City’s online booking system ahead of busy festive season

The City of Cape Town urges residents to make use of its easy-to-use and convenient Walk-In Centre Online Booking System ahead of the busy November and December months. Traditionally, these months are the busiest of the year with many residents preferring to do their urgent business during this time. The City reminds residents to plan their visits to a City Customer office ahead of time during the upcoming busy months, use e-Services or make an online booking. City office staff allow senior, pregnant and disabled customers to move to the front of the queue where they will be assisted as soon as possible.

The City’s Customer Offices, including the motor vehicle registration and licensing centre, will most likely be busier than usual during November and December months due to an increase in transactions ahead of the festive season.

‘We also remind residents that Customer Offices, which provide cash receiving, account enquiries, motor vehicle registration and licensing, as well as housing rental offices will be closed on certain days over the festive season. It is therefore important for residents to make their plans to visit an office ahead of time and as early as possible, and we urge residents to make use of our new online booking system to get ahead of the queue.

‘In September, the City launched an online booking system for motor vehicle licensing and registration, which allows residents to book an appointment so that they do not have to stand in a queue. In addition to motor vehicle licensing and registration, the system allows residents to book an appointment to pay their municipal accounts. Thus far, the new system has assisted more than 1000 residents since it launched and we encourage residents to make use of it to avoid long queues over the next two months.

‘For residents who do not want to go into a physical customer office at all, our services are also available online through the e-Services portal. Residents are encouraged to register on the City website to make use of the e-Services options.

‘The City remains committed to providing reliable and top quality service to residents and we strive to always find new ways to improve our service offering to residents across the city,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Finance, Siseko Mbandezi.
