Upington Highway Patrol confiscates dagga on R360 national road

NORTHERN CAPE – The relentless and persistent efforts to remove drugs from the streets paid off when Sgt Charlto Andrews and Const Chevee Niewenhuisen stopped and searched an unsuspecting man sitting next to the road.

The members attached to the Upington Highway patrol unit were conducting patrols this morning, 08 September 2021 at 07:55 on the R360 road between Upington and Rietfontein when they noticed a man with his travel bag sitting next to the road.

The members stopped and searched the man and discovered 4 concealed plastic bags containing dagga in the travel bag. The value of the dagga is estimated at R4 300-00.

The 19-year-old male was arrested and charged with possession of dagga and will soon be appearing in the Upington Magistrates court. The police in the province will continue unabated to squeeze the space for drug dealers to operate.
