A total of two escapees have been re-arrested since the escape of 12 awaiting trial prisoners from the cells at SAPS Mount Frere during the early hours of the morning on Thursday, 28 September 2021.
On Friday, 1 October 2021 about 11:00, Nkosikhona Ngcopheni who was detained on a theft charge was arrested at his house in Nkungwini location in Mount Frere.
The second suspect, Sodlana Luphumzo was also arrested on Friday afternoon in Bislan location. At the time of his escape, he was detained for burglary.
The task teams are still on the hunt for the remaining escapees.
