The City’s Water and Sanitation Directorate will do a second dummy shut-off on the 300mm diameter reticulation water main along Alexander Road in Ndabeni on Thursday, 23 February 2023, from 08:30 until 12:00.
What residents need to know about planned water supply disruptions:
Please store water in clean sealed containers for domestic use during this period.
Please keep your taps closed to prevent any water loss and or damage when the water supply is restored.
Careful consideration has been given to planning this work to ensure it is being done at a time that is least disruptive to the water supply.
The first dummy shutdown last week was hindered by a faulty valve in the network which has since been repaired. This work is in preparation for a future shut-off to connect new infrastructure to the existing network. It may temporarily disrupt the water supply to Ndabeni, a section of Pinelands, Garden Village and the Vincent Pallotti Hospital tomorrow, Thursday, 23 February during the indicated time.
The dummy shut-off will assist in determining how best to minimise the areas and the impact on the consumers when the actual shut-off is done. Residents will be informed timeously ahead of the actual shut-off.
Consumers may experience lower-than-usual water pressure or no water for a brief period.
The City regrets any inconvenience caused but must explore opportunities within its water supply infrastructure network to benefit its consumers.
