The police in Upington are continuing with the search of Le-Virno Van Wyk (5) who went missing on 31 May 2022.
According to the report, the boy was playing with his cousin and friends of his age group after school near the rail way behind Skierlik squatter camp in Louisvaleweg. It was further reported that the boy was seen running on the railway towards the veld.
The search was instituted immediately in the area after the boy was reported missing with no success.
The Acting District Commissioner of ZF Mgcawu, Colonel Peet Coetzee reassures the community that the police are doing everything in their power to locate the boy and that they must refrain from disseminating unverified information on social media. He further acknowledged and appreciated the efforts of those who have been helping with the search from day one including the community, NGOs and other government departments.
The search operation of Le-Virno continues, more resources and man power from provincial and district level will be incorporated and intensified. Information on any new developments will be communicated.
