Uniondale Police arrest three suspects for stock theft

UNIONDALE – Concerted efforts to eradicate stock theft, which have a detrimental effect on the economy, yielded positive results when three suspects were arrested during an operation following an incident on a farm at Uniondale.

On Saturday, 26 June 2021, police responded to a farm where a goat was allegedly slaughtered and loaded into a truck. A tracing operation by members attached to the Oudtshoorn Stock Theft and Endangered Species Unit and Uniondale police led to the arrest of three suspects aged 29, 32, and 35 on a nearby farm. The trio is facing a charge of stock theft.

In an unrelated matter, investigation into a burglary at a premises at Voortrekker Street, Uniondale on Friday, 25 June 2021, led to the recovery of the stolen items and the arrest of three suspects. The suspects aged between 25 and 31 are all facing charges of burglary and possession of stolen property.

All arrested suspects remain in custody. They are scheduled to appear in the Uniondale Magistrates’ court on Monday, 28 June 2021, on mentioned charges.
