WESTERN CAPE - The determination of police officers to create a safer environment for their community ensured the arrest of two suspects in two isolated incidents in possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.
Grassy Park police visited an address in Klip Road, Grassy Park on Monday 27 June 2022, as part of an investigation on a charge of pointing of a firearm. Upon arrival at the address, they searched the premises and confiscated a firearm and ammunition. A 56-year-old man was arrested and detained on a charge of possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition as he could not provide a valid license to be in possession of the mentioned firearm.
Table View police members were busy with patrols on Tuesday 28 June 2022, at around 20:30, near to Parklands Main Road, observing a potential drug dealer. When they spotted the suspicious person they approached him and searched him. They confiscated a firearm with ammunition. A 24-year-old male was arrested and detained on a charge of possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
Once charged, the suspects are expected to make their respective court appearances in Wynberg and Cape Town on the mentioned charges.
