Two suspects nabbed for carjacking and attempted murder

POLOKWANE - The South African Police Service in Lephalale arrested two suspects aged 28 and 31 for carjacking, attempted murder and possession of unlicensed firearm, following an incident that took place on Friday, 24 February 2023 at Marapong Industrial Area.

According to the information, the suspects and the victim had an arrangement in which the victim was hired to transport the diesel that they bought. The victim was apparently directed to various locations to wait for the two (suspects). The suspects later called the victim to proceed to Marapong Industrial area and while the victim was waiting them allegedly shot the victim several times and thereafter dragged him out of the vehicle, a white Isuzu Bakie into the nearby bushes and drove off.

The Police were alerted about the incident and immediately traced the suspects. The victim was taken to hospital.

The Police immediately arrested the two suspects and recovered a firearm and the victim's vehicle.

The Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe commended the members for acting quickly and arresting the suspects.

The suspects will appear before the Lephalale Magistrate court on Monday, 27 February 2023.

The Police investigations are still continuing.
