NELSPRUIT – Two suspects, aged 25 and 34 years old are due to appear before the Morgenzone Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, 08 March 2022 for unlawful possession of copper.
The suspects were arrested this morning 07 March 2022 at around 05h30 after their vehicle, a white Opel Corsa bakkie with Gauteng registration number plates was stopped by members of the Secunda Flying Squad who were doing their stop- and-search duties at Morgenzone. They searched the said vehicle and discovered a bundle of copper weighing about 342 kilograms, with an estimated street value of about R 42 000-00. The suspects were then arrested hence their court appearance tomorrow.
The Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela has reiterated her call on the public to desist from buying suspected stolen goods whilst welcoming the arrest of the suspects. “We appreciate the effort displayed by members in making sure that those who break the law, face the consequences” said the General.
