Two suspects due in court for corruption

MPUMALANGA – Two suspects who are brothers, are due to appear before the Middelburg Magistrate Court on Monday, 28 November 2022 for corruption.

It is alleged that on 24 November 2022, a shop owner and his brother approached an inspector from the Department of Labour and Employment to ask him not to issue a compliance order against the shop owner. On the 26 November 2022, the brothers transferred R4500-00 into the bank account of the inspector.

The inspector notified the police about the incident and the two brothers were arrested on the 26 November 2022 by the Hawks Middelburg based Serious Corruption Investigation and charged with corruption hence their appearance in court today.

The Provincial Head of the Hawks in Mpumalanga, Major General Zodwa Mokoena is delighted about the collaboration between the law enforcement agencies in the Province and applauded the faithful member who acted wisely by reporting the acts of corruption. She further inspires all law enforcement agencies to work with honesty and uproot the element of corruption within the Departments by reporting such incidents. She concluded’’.
