Two suspects arrested in separate incidents and charged with murder

BETHLEHEM – The police have arrested two suspects in connection with the alleged murder of two people who died as a result of fatal stabbing wounds in Harrismith and Bethlehem.

Between 19 and 22 March 2022, the victim, Ndumiso Madinane (32) from Intabazwe near Harrismith, was admitted at Thebe District Hospital and later transferred to Mofumahadi Manapo Mopeli Regional hospital where he succumbed to his injury. It was established that he was stabbed during a fight however, the motive is unknown. The Harrismith Detective Service traced the suspect and arrested a 29-year-old man. He is expected to appear before the Harrismith Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 28 March 2022 facing a charge of murder.

On 26 March 2022, the Bethlehem Police were summoned to Volgefontein section of Bethlehem where they attended the crime scene where a body was found, covered with blanket in the street. The victim is known however, the family is yet to identify him positively. It was established that the victim sustained a stab wound and died instantly on the scene.

The police followed first hand community information which led to arrest of a 23-year-old man. The motive behind the murder is not yet known. Police investigations continue.

He is expected to appear before the Bethlehem Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 28 March 2022 facing a charge of murder.
