Two suspects arrested for Phoenix jewellery store robberies

DURBAN – On Wednesday, 17 November 2021, Phoenix police officers received information from Crime Intelligence of suspects that were possibly linked to the robberies committed at Phoenix jewellery stores on Monday, 15 November 2021.

 

In a joint operation with security companies, Phoenix police officers intercepted the two men at KwaMashu. During a search various items of jewellery, two firearms, 10 rounds of ammunition and a speed point machine were found in the suspects’ possession. In a follow-up operation, two vehicles believed to have been used during the robberies were seized by police.

 

The two men, aged 21 and 26 were detained at the Phoenix police station on two counts of robbery as well as unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition charges. They are expected to appear in court soon. Investigations are on-going and more arrests can be expected.
