Two police officers among the suspects nabbed for stock theft

DURBAN – On 13 December 2021 at 13:00, the Estcourt Stock Theft Unit assisted by the private security company embarked on an operation at Winterton area.

 

The police received information regarding the sheep that were stolen at a farm in Winterton between 1 and 12 December 2021. Two males, a 16-year-old and Xolani Mazibuko (29) were questioned regarding the stolen stock. Investigation led the police to a home of a police officer stationed at Winterton, Constable Nkosinathi Ngubane (31) and he was questioned.

 

The team proceeded to the home of Constable Mlungisi Mshengu (37) where three stolen sheep were found in a chicken pen. The recovered sheep was positively identified by the lawful owner. The two police officers are stationed at Winterton SAPS. All the four accused were placed under arrest and charged with stock theft. They all appeared before the Colenso Magistrates’ Court today. They were granted a bail of R2000-00. The matter was adjourned to 20 January 2021.

 

This arrest is a testimony that we will leave no stone unturned when the crime is being committed. We will not tolerate police officers who are involved in criminal activities and hide behind the police badge.
