WINDHOEK: A catastrophic head-on collision claimed the lives of two individuals on a road near Mariental on Wednesday, with the intensity of the crash leaving both victims unidentifiable due to the fire that ensued.
According to Namibian Press Agency, the tragic incident took place around 14:30, approximately 45 kilometers from Mariental. The report detailed that a Dyna truck and a Hino truck were involved in a direct collision that resulted in both vehicles igniting into flames.
The men, aged 29 and 31, were confirmed to be the occupants of the Dyna truck, which was engulfed in fire following the crash, leading to their immediate demise. Meanwhile, the 32-year-old male driver of the Hino truck and his male passenger survived but suffered moderate injuries.
As of the latest updates, the authorities have not notified the next of kin of the deceased due to the pending process of identity confirmation, which has been rendered challenging due to the condition of the remains.
