WESTERN CAPE – Investigators deployed to bring serious and violent crimes suspects to book arrested two suspects who are expected to make their first court appearances on Monday, 20 December 2021 each on a count of murder.
On Saturday, 18 December 2021 at about 13:00 members attached to the Knysna police arrested a 53-year-old suspect in connection with the death of a 37-year-old man.
Preliminary investigation indicates that the men had an argument when the victim was stabbed with a knife. The victim sustained a stab wound to the chest. He was declared dead by paramedics on scene.
The suspect was arrested shortly thereafter. He remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in the Knysna Magistrates’ court tomorrow.
In an unrelated matter, investigation into the death of a 53-year-old man at Rietfontein, Calitzdorp during the early hours of this morning landed a 23-year-old man behind bars.
Police were dispatched to the scene at about 03:10 and on arrival found the victim who was later declared dead by medical personnel. An autopsy to determine the cause of death will be conducted early this week.
The circumstances surrounding this matter is under investigation. The motive for this killing is yet to be established.
The suspect remains in police custody. He will appear in court once charged.
