Two men arrested for stealing maize seed

A farmer blew the whistle after he was allegedly approached by two men selling maize seed. A joint operation was then held which led to two arrests and seizure of the seeds.

 

On the 13 August 2021, one of the farmers in Vierfontein district gave information about unknown men selling maize seed.

 

The operation was organized and two men from Kgotsong aged 25 and 26 were subsequently arrested.  In their possession, 177 bags of maize seed which weighed 20 kg and valued R850 000 were found.

 

The two suspects will be charged with possession of suspected stolen maize seed and they will appear at Bothaville Magistrate court on the 16 August 2021.
