Two Arrested for Robbery in Bloemfontein CBD.

Bloemfontein: Two suspects aged 19 and 23 will appear in the Bloemfontein Magistrate Court on Monday, 04 November 2024, on charges of possession of an unlicensed firearm and dealing in drugs. The firearm confiscated during the arrest will be sent to ballistics to ensure that it was not used in the commission of other crimes.

According to South African Police Service, on Friday, 01 November 2024, members of Platoon 10 were on duty under the command of Sgt Gumada conducting crime prevention duties around the Bloemspruit area when they received intelligence-driven information around 01:00 in the morning regarding a Toyota Yaris that was robbing people in a small street in the CBD.

The officers followed this information and pounced on two males busy selling drugs. While searching them, they found drugs, an unlicensed firearm, and money believed to be the proceeds of drug sales. The evidence was confiscated and will be used during the court proceeding.

The suspects were immediately arrested. A case of dealing i
n drugs and possession of an unlicensed firearm is under investigation.
