Two arrested for possession of suspected stolen vehicle

HEILBRON – Two suspects aged 26 and 39 will appear before the Heilbron Magistrate Court on Wednesday 02 March 2022 for possession of suspected stolen vehicle and possession of housebreaking implements.

It is alleged that in the early hours of 01 March 2022 at about 02:55 the Belrex camera operators activated the Heilbron farmers after noticing two Toyota Hilux bakkies which were reported stolen in Reitz on their systems.

The farmers then gave chase of the suspects and activated the Heilbron SAPS, Fezile Dabi District Task Team and neighbouring police stations working together to apprehend the suspects.

The suspects were chased up until the R57 near Lion Farm where three of the suspects managed to run into the bushes and abandoned one of the stolen Toyota Hilux bakkie while the police managed to arrest one suspect who was driving the second Toyota Hilux bakkie and the second suspect who was driving a Toyota corolla which was escorting the suspects.

The two Toyota Hilux bakkies and the silver Toyota corolla were confiscated.

The two suspects are from Tembisa in the Gauteng province.

Acting District Commissioner of the Fezile Dabi District Brig Mapulane Mbeloane applauded all role players who participated in ensuring that these perpetrators are put behind bars.  She concluded by encouraging joint efforts between SAPS, private law enforcement agencies and the farming communities as it brings a synergy while working together against crime.
