Two suspects, aged 24 and 43, will appear in Botshabelo Magistrate Court soon, on a charge of attempted murder. The two allegedly shot a well-known community leader in front of his family.

It is alleged that in the early hours of this morning, at about 02:30, police received a complaint of shooting at the U section in Botshabelo. On arrival at the scene, they found a man lying on the floor in a pool of blood with six gunshot wounds on his stomach and both hands. He was identified as Sello Moroane.

The victim’s wife reported that she was sleeping with her husband when the door was kicked open. Four men entered the house and shot at her husband with a firearm and ran away thereafter. The reason for the shooting is still unknown.

The victim was rushed to the hospital for treatment. Investigation led to the arrest of two suspects, and the other two were still on the run.
