Two arrested for alleged possession of dry leopard skin

Two men aged 24 and 36 years were arrested on Wednesday after they were allegedlly found in possession of a dry leopard skin.

According to the Namibian Police Force (NamPol) head of community affairs in the Otjozondjupa Region, Inspector Maureen Mbeha, in a media statement issued on Thursday, the arrest took place at about 12h05 on Hochfeld-Okahandja T-junction in the Okahandja district.

“The two male suspects were arrested in a police action after they were found in possession of a dried leopard skin without a permit,” she said.

The skin is estimated to carry a street value of N.dollars 50 000, added Mbeha.

Both suspects are expected to appear in the Okahandja Magistrate's Court on Friday.

Police investigations continue.
