The City of Cape Town’s Mayoral Committee Member for Human Settlements, Councillor Malusi Booi and department officials today, 14 February 2023, handed over 90 title deeds and roses to beneficiaries of its R130 million The Hague housing project in Delft – a gift so special even Cupid wouldn’t dare compete. It was love at first title deed for new residents of the City’s The Hague housing project in Delft as they received the deeds to their homes as well as roses.

‘We wish these home owners the very best on their next chapter in their new homes. A title deed is so much more than a piece of paper. This investment will only grow in value, and will become a beloved asset for the beneficiaries, their families and loved ones. We thank the project teams for their hard work and we look forward to providing more opportunities and additional title deeds to residents at our various projects across the metro. We are pleased to assist more beneficiaries with the title deeds to their homes at The Hague. This is a mega project and will provide 2 400 affordable opportunities to

residents.

‘The City is committed to redress and empowerment. Handing out title deeds to our beneficiaries who were previously denied ownership of property by the apartheid regime is an absolutely heart-warming occasion. We should all as Capetonians celebrate these milestones and the deep meaning that title deeds carry and the opportunities they can unlock.

‘The handover of title deeds will be ongoing subject to statutory approvals and we urge beneficiaries to make sure their contact details are up to date as SMSes will be sent once they are ready for collection. We look forward to assisting many more residents with the title deeds to their homes. They are some of the most poor in the metro and really stand to benefit by having their title deed,’ said Councillor Booi.
