On Sunday, 24 October 2021, a group of truck drivers prevented trucks from passing through the N10 National Road outside Middelburg.
Vehicles were allowed to pass through however, all trucks have been stopped. At this stage, it is alleged that the drivers are protesting against foreign drivers.
On Monday 25 October 2021, the Minister of Transport Fikile Mbalula, and the Acting Chris Hani District Commissioner, Brigadier Mabel Magqashela arrived at Middelburg Police Station and will address a representation of the truck drivers to resolve the issue at hand.
Truck drivers are requested to please use the R65-Steynsburg road as alternative travelling route.
