Truck thieves stopped at their tracks

VREDEFORT – Fezile Dabi District Trio Task team successfully stopped two suspects who stole a truck from Tweelinkop farm in Vredefort.

Members led by Sergeant Majoe followed crime intelligence led information suggesting that there are three armed males intending to steal a truck at Tweelingkop farm. Information suggested that the suspects would be escorted by a white Toyota Corolla with a Lesotho registration number.

At about 20:00, information was received that the suspects had broken into the store where a 10 ton Faw truck was parked. The stolen truck was monitored as it was driven away from the farm until at a petrol garage in Vredefort.

Members stopped the truck and arrested one suspect who was found inside the truck.

Preliminary investigation led to the escorting vehicle, and with the assistance of the farming community, the vehicle was spotted between Vredefort and Kroonstad. After a hot pursuit the vehicle was cornered and the suspect arrested. No firearms were found.

A 10 ton Faw truck and car theft implements as well as the Toyota Corolla were confiscated.
