The members of Rapid Rail Police Unit based in Harrismith arrested three suspects on the N3 near Warden with suspected stolen vehicle. The same vehicle was allegedly reported hijacked in Orange Farm, Gauteng Province.
The police were patrolling the N3 as part of their daily routine to curb crime on this national road, stop and search suspicious vehicles and persons. On Thursday, 7 April 2022 at about 05:00 while patrolling the N3 direction to Warden they stopped a grey Accent Hyundai with GP registration, the vehicle had three occupants. They circulated the vehicle which came positive that it was reported hijacked at Orange Farm police station. The trio age between 21 and 26 were arrested and detained.
They are expected to appear before the Warden Magistrate court soon on charges of possession of suspected stolen vehicle. The matter will also be referred to Orange Farm police for further handling on car hijacking case.
