Transport creates awareness about level crossing safety in Rustenburg, 12 Nov

Railway Safety Regulator highlights level crossing safety at Dr Moroka level crossing

The National Department of Transport (DoT) and the Railway Safety Regulator (RSR) will be at the Dr Moroka level crossing in Rustenburg on Friday 12 November to create awareness about level crossing safety. Level crossings in the Northwest province account for 20 per cent of the overall number of level crossing incidents that occurred during the 2020/21 reporting period. Furthermore, about 70 per cent of motorist who drive pass this level crossing do not stop.

Members of the media are hereby invited to join the Deputy Minister of Transport, Ms. Sindisiwe Chikunga, RSR, Transnet Freight Rail and representative of the local council at the Dr Moroka level crossing.

The level crossing campaign will be followed by a session at the Rustenburg Civic Centre where the delegation will engage learners from two schools in close proximity of the Dr Moroka level crossing.
