Tip off leads to the arrest of five suspects for armed robbery

The partnership between the South African Police Service and our communities led to the arrest of five suspects between the ages of 17 and 24 after police received information regarding an armed robbery which occurred in the earlier hours of Friday morning (2021-11-12).

 

The victim was robbed of his firearm, laptop computer and cellular phone when he went to Brown’s Farm regarding an advertisement he saw on social member. Thanks to the tip off by the members of the community a 9mm pistol and laptop were recovered.

 

Furthermore a suspect was arrested for the possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition in Kathleen Close Manenberg during Crime Prevention operations.

 

The suspect was arrested with a 9mm pistol.

 

In an unrelated matter members of Elsies River police arrested a 20 year old suspect for the possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition in Kroondal court Elsies River yesterday (2021-11-13). The members were busy with patrols when they spotted the suspicious looking male who tried to get away when he saw the police approaching.

 

The suspect was searched and found in possession of a 9mm pistol with ammunition.

 

Once charged the suspect will make respective court appearances in Bishop Lavis and Athlone Magistrates courts on Monday 15 November 2021 on the mentioned charges.
