NELSPRUIT - Three firearms and 13 live rounds of ammunition were recovered and two suspects both aged 31 were arrested on the R40 road in Acornhoek, Mpumalanga on Friday 06 January 2023 at about 20:00.
Acornhoek Crime Prevention members were busy with their normal patrols when they spotted a suspicious looking red Toyota Tazz with KwaZulu-Natal registration plates.
Members approached the vehicle with two occupants. Members searched the vehicle and recovered three firearms, one with serial numbers filed off and 13 live ammunitions.
The suspects were arrested after they failed to produce firearm licenses or permits.
The duo, one a local resident and the other one believed to be from Rustenburg are expected to appear before Acornhoek Magistrate's Court on Monday 09 January 2023 for possession of firearms and ammunition without the valid firearm licences or permits.
The Provincial Management voiced their satisfaction about the recovery of the firearms and the arrest of the suspects as more lives are believed to have been saved.
