Three suspects arrested in possession of stolen copper cable

SAPS members endeavours to prevent and detect the theft of non-ferrous metals yield positive results as three suspects were arrested in the early hours of the morning.

 

It is alleged that on 14 January 2022   at about 02:25am members from visible policing and CI received information about two vehicles that were suspected to be loading stolen copper cables.

 

These vehicles were said to be taking Aliwal North direction from Burgersdorp.

 

The vehicles were then identified on the road and the members gave chase and both vehicles were stopped and copper cables were found in the vehicles.

 

Four of the suspects ran away from the scene leaving the vehicles behind but the members still managed to arrest three suspects and detained them in the Burgersdorp police station.

 

Forty two (42) bundles of copper cable were confiscated.

 

On further investigation it was determined that the suspects came from Soshanguve.

 

The three suspects one age 25 and the other two both 40 years will appear on the 17 January 2022 in the Burgersdorp magistrate court.

 

The acting District Commissioner Brig Rudolph Adolph commended the members on the swift reaction and successesfull arrests and confiscation.
