NELSPRUIT – Intelligence driven information secured success when Standerton Crime Intelligence Unit and Standerton Crime Prevention Unit nabbed three suspects aged between 22 and 34 for possession of suspected drugs in separate incidents on Tuesday 18 October 2022 at about 05:30.
Crime Intelligence worked on information provided and analysed the suspects’ movements before operationalising their findings with Crime Prevention Unit.
A 22-year-old suspect was arrested with 21 grams of nyaope stashed in ten plastic bags. The operation further led to the arrest of a 34-year-old suspect who was found with 1017 mandrax tablets weighing 1435 grams.
Last on the list was a 25-year-old suspect who was in possession of 52g of nyaope stashed in 100 plastic bags. All suspects are expected to appear before Standerton Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday 19 October 2022.
The seized drugs will be taken to forensic for further investigation.
The Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela has appreciate the arrests made and promised to intensify the fight against drugs in the province.
