NELSPUIT - The Police at Charl Cilliers were applauded after they arrested three suspects aged between 28 and 34 on allegations of a business robbery committed at Eskom Zeus Substation yesterday, 14 August 2022.
According to the information, a group of about seven armed suspects entered the Eskom premises and held security guards at gunpoint. Moments later, farm patrol as well as members of Modise POLSEC were alerted and in turn notified the police. Upon arrival at the premises the three entities worked together and managed to arrest three suspects while the others managed to flee.
The team is currently at the scene and developments with regard to the story will be shared accordingly with the public.
The three suspects are expected to appear at the Secunda Magistrate's Court soon facing charges of business robbery. Police cannot rule out the possibility of adding more charges against the suspects as the probe continues.
Police urge anyone with information that will lead to the arrest of the remaining suspects to contact Detective Warrant Officer Brian Jones on 082 065 1326 or call the Crime Stop number at 08600 10111. Alternatively members of the public can send information via MySAPS App. All received information will be treated as confidential and callers may opt to remain anonymous.
The Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela has further commended the collaborative effort by the entities which led to this arrest and has promised that the remaining suspects will be traced soon and be brought to book.
