Three possible armed robbers intercepted with unlicensed firearms

NELSPRUIT - Police's Crime Intelligent gathered information which resulted in the arrest of three possible robbers.

They were intercepted and found with two unlicensed firearms without ammunitions last Friday 10 February 2023 at about 21:00 in Acornhoek.

Different police units including Crime Intelligence, National Intervention Unit, Tactical Response Team, Provincial Task Team and Secunda Public Order Policing were activated to execute the operation.

A vehicle which matched the description of the provided information was spotted at one of the filling stations in Acornhoek.

The dedicated team of police stroked immediately and upon searching the vehicle, two unlicensed firearms with empty magazines were recovered and all three suspects were arrested.

The recovered firearms and the White VW Polo which they were using were confiscated for further investigation.

The trio appeared before the Acornhoek Magistrate's Court yesterday Monday 13 February and remanded in custody pending their formal bail application on 02 March, 2023 which will be held at Bushbuckridge Magistrate's Court.

The Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela acknowledged the positive results and applauded the team for the arrest and removal of unlicenced firearms from the criminals.
