PARYS – Three suspects aged between 37 and 44 are expected to appear before the Parys Magistrate Court on Monday, 26 September 2022 on charges of attempted murder.

It is alleged that on Friday, 23 September 2022 at about 03:40 the Fezile Dabi District intervention team was activated to be on the lookout for a black Toyota Fortuner which attempted to hijack a truck 20km from Hoopstad and it was heading towards Parys.

The team reacted and the identified vehicle was spotted on the R59.

It is further alleged that when the suspects saw the police they started shooting at them and drove away taking direction to Parys.

The police gave chase and retaliated, after a few kilometres the black Toyota Fortuner stopped and the police managed to arrest three suspects for attempted murder.

One licensed 9mm firearm belonging to one of the suspects, balaclavas and hand gloves were confiscated.
