The Provincial Commissioner of police in Limpopo condemns acts of vigilantism following murder of a man in Malomanye Village

POLOKWANE – The police in Apel under the Sekhukhune district have activated a manhunt for the suspects who killed an unknown man on Friday, 18 October 2024 at around 16:00, in Malomanye village.

Police were summoned to the scene together with the Emergency Medical Services personnel and upon arrival at the scene, they found a male body burned at the street.

He was certified dead on the scene, and he is currently unknown.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the victim was attacked by a section of community members, who allegedly accused him of committing a cable theft in the area.

A case of murder has been opened for further police investigations.

The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Limpopo, Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has condemned the incident and advised community members to report criminal activities to the police without acting unlawfully.”Taking the law into your own hands is an act of criminality and therefore punishable by law”, Concluded Lieutenant General Hadebe.
