The Phuthaditjhaba Public Order Task Team arrest suspect for theft of motor vehicle in Vrede

FREE STATE – On 01 November 2021 the members were on duty monitoring voting stations at Memel. Apparently they left Memel to Vrede following information.

 

Whilst conducting duties they received additional information to be on the lookout for a white VW Tiguan vehicle with a GP registration number that was allegedly stolen at Cornelia. The information received from the tracker indicated that the vehicle was in the vicinity of Vrede and the owner was busy opening the case docket at Cornelia.

 

The members spotted the vehicle, stopped it and arrested the suspect. The vehicle was seized.

 

The 32-year-old suspect is expected to appear before the Vrede Magistrate court on Wednesday, 03 November 2021 facing charges of possession of suspected stolen property, drunk driving, reckless and negligent driving.
