On Tuesday, 31 August 2021, the City of Cape Town’s Transport Directorate will commence with the resurfacing of High Level and Kloof Roads in Sea Point. The work is scheduled to be completed by end of September 2021, pending unforeseen delays and inclement weather. Read more below:
Work is planned from 08:00 to 17:00 from Monday to Saturday.
‘The roadworks is part of routine maintenance and includes milling of damaged road surface and replacing it with new tar and road markings. The works speak to our commitment to continue ensuring that Cape Town roads are durable and safe for all road users. As it is customary with roadworks, there will be a level of inconvenience, as traffic moving in both directions will be affected. Thus, we urge road users to please consider making use of alternative routes to avoid unnecessary delays,’ said the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Transport, Councillor Rob Quintas.
Flag personnel will regulate traffic flow by means of a stop-and-go system. Although traffic flow will be impeded, residents will be granted local access to their properties as soon as the new surface treatment has dried. Vehicles may be parked in the demarcated area provided that they are removed before 08:30 in the morning.
‘I also want to appeal with residents and road users to comply with the signage that will be in place during the construction period. The City of Cape Town thanks you for your cooperation and patience,’ said Councillor Quintas.
