Teen among three nabbed for business robbery in Addo

A swift police response led to the arrest of three business robbery suspects and the recovery of two toy guns in Addo yesterday.

 

On Thursday, 14 October 2021 at about 5pm, it is alleged that an unknown man entered a shop in Duka Street, Nomathamsanqa, Addo. It is further said that he then threatened a cashier with a firearm that was partly visible from a sling bag.  A suspect stole undisclosed amount of cash, before fleeing the scene in a getaway vehicle, a black Volvo with unknown number of occupants.

 

Immediately, a complainant alerted the police and the description of a getaway vehicle was circulated in all police communication radio channels. Moments later, a vehicle fitting the description was spotted and cornered on the Main Road in Nomathamsanqa area, Addo.

 

Police arrested the three occupants, and also seized a sling bag, which had two (02) toy guns inside. A getaway vehicle was also seized for further investigation.

 

Preliminary investigation has positively linked the three suspects to another business robbery in Gqeberha.

 

The three suspects aged between 17 and 26 are due to appear in the Addo Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 18 October 2021 on charges of business robbery.
