Tactical Response Team arrest suspect and seize firearm

On Monday the 13 September 2021 the Tactical Response Team arrested a 67-year-old male after he was found in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

This followed after intelligence driven information was received about an unlicensed firearm and ammunition being kept at a homestead in Ezingqolweni location in Lady Frere.

The tracing team executed a search warrant and a Taurus .38 special firearm and one live round were confiscated.

Once charged he is expected to make a court appearance in the Lady Frere Magistrates court on a charge of possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

The Acting Chris Hani District Commissioner, Brigadier Mabel Magqashela highlights the critical role played by Crime Intelligence in the policing value chain. The intercepting of potential threats such as unlicensed firearms will eradicate the potential of committing trio crimes, especially in hotspot areas.
