WESTERN CAPE – Swift response to information on possible illicit activities landed four suspects behind bars when police found copper cables in their possession on the N2 highway near Riversdale.

On Thursday, 18 November 2021 at about 14:30, members attached to the Rural Flying Squad and Riversdale police operationalized information when they stopped a Toyota Runx which was enroute to the Cape Metropole. A search of the vehicle ensued when police found 7,6 kilogram of copper cables in the back of the vehicle. The four occupants of the vehicle were subsequently arrested on a charge of possession of suspected stolen property.

The foursome aged between 34 and 44 remains in custody. They are expected to appear in the Riversdale Magistrates’ court on Monday, 22 November 2021 on mentioned charge.

In an unrelated matter, on the same day, Rural Flying squad members arrested two suspects, both 18 years of age, after they swiftly responded to a housebreaking which was perpetrated at Kranshoek outside Plettenberg Bay. The members recovered all the stolen items. The arrested will appear in court once charged.
