Swift police responce results in the arrest of a house robber with a firearm

DURBAN – Yesterday at 19:45, a family was observing a prayer at their home on John Zikali Road in Berea when an unknown man opened the outside tap and left the water to run.

When one of the family went out to check, the suspect gained entry into the house and held the family at gunpoint. The suspect stole a cellphone, cash and car keys before fleeing. Police were immediately summoned to the scene and searched the premises. The suspect aged 25 years was found hiding under a staircase in the bathroom and he was placed under arrest. He was found in possession of a revolver as well as the stolen items.

He will make his first appearance in the Durban Magistrates Court on Monday, 7 November 2022 on charges of house robbery.
