Suspects to appear in court for possession of unlicensed firearms and

WESTERN CAPE – Five suspects between the ages of 25 and 35 are expected to answer in a court of law following their arrest in two isolated incidents when they were found in possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition and a stolen motor vehicle. 

Police members deployed in Maitland to combat crime, were busy with patrols on Thursday, 03 November 2022. They responded to information pertaining a stolen vehicle and drove in the direction of Voortrekker Road and found the vehicle parked on the side of the road. The police members searched the vehicle and the occupants and confiscated two 9mm pistols with ammunition. They arrested and detained four males aged between 25 and 35 on charges of possession of a stolen motor vehicle and possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition

Ravensmead Crime Prevention Unit pursued information and approached a dwelling in Daisy Street, Uitsig on Friday 04 November 2022. They searched the premises and found a man in possession of a 9mm pistol. The 34-year-old man was arrested and detained on a charge of possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

Once charged the suspects are expected to make their respective court appearances in the Cape Town and Bellville Magistrate court’s on the mentioned charges.
