Suspects on the wrong side of law get their day in court

Efforts to ensure that those on the wrong side of the law are brought to book yielded positive results when members of the Anti-Gang Unit conducted an intelligence driven operation in Hanover Park on Saturday evening. The members searched a premises in Lansry Walk where they arrested a 27-year-old man when they found a pistol with 65 rounds of ammunition in the house. The suspect faces charges of possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

Furthermore the members followed up information about a wanted suspect that is at a premises in Lansman Walk who is being sought by police for attempted murder. The house was searched and the 18-year-old suspect was arrested on an attempted murder charge.

Once charge the suspects will make their respective court appearances in the Athlone Magistrates court.
