GAUTENG – There is a case of theft of petrol from Transnet that is being investigated by Organized Crime. The tanker with the petrol was brought to SAPS Brackendowns for temporary storage. On Tuesday, 21 December 2021 members from Transnet arranged to come and tap out some of the petrol but couldn’t take it all as it is about 9000 litres.
This morning three African males pretended that they need to come and view the truck that is carrying the stolen tanker with petrol and detained access into our station, the men were driving a Mercedes close cab minibus.
As our CID head entered the station he noticed that there are men tampering with the truck at the tanker tap with pipes and on closer investigation he noticed that the man was in fact busy stealing petrol out of the tanker.
The three African males were immediately arrested as they do not work for Transnet and detained at SAPS Brackendowns.
The I/O from Organized Crime was contacted and the case is being investigated.
