DURBAN – On 07 August 2022 at 16:00, Cato Manor police were conducting crime prevention duties when they came across a white vehicle with three men. The driver of the said vehicle spotted police and sped off. The police gave chase and intercepted the vehicle on Dunbar Road. The vehicle was searched and the police recovered a gas gun under the front seat.
They also realised that the vehicle had false number plates and questioned the three men who failed to produce valid documents for the vehicle. Investigations established that the vehicle was stolen in Point. One of the men offered the officers money in exchange for their freedom. They were all placed under arrest for possession of suspected stolen property and for displaying false registration plates. The suspects aged between 18 and 21 appeared in the Durban Magistrate’s Court on 08 August 2022 and were remanded in custody.
On 12 August 2022, an intensive investigation was conducted and the men were positively linked to other cases of business robberies committed in Durban and surrounding areas during the period of May and June. They appeared before the Durban Magistrate’s Court on 15 August 2022.
