The police in Mangaung Metro, Bloemfontein are on a lookout for a Silver Toyota Yaris with Lesotho registration number plates. This is after a 19-year-old student at University of the Free State was kidnapped and robbed of her belongings by armed suspects in Nelson Mandela Drive.
According to the victim, she was walking alone from the Mall on Wednesday, 27 October 2021, at about 18:05. She alleges that suddenly a Silver Toyota Yaris stopped next to her and an African male on the passenger side pointed a firearm towards her and instructed her to get into the vehicle. The second suspect, who was a white male, then drove off.
The two suspects robbed the victim of her cellphone and a bank card. They then dropped her at the entrance of University of the Free State. A case of kidnapping and armed robbery was opened at Parkweg Police Station.
