DURBAN – Nhlakanipho Mngomezulu (25) and Thembinkosi Bhengu (36) appeared in the Ntuzuma Magistrate’s Court on 26 January 2021, for unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition as well as discharging of a firearm in public. Both suspects are remanded in custody until 2 February 2022 for further investigation.
On 25 January 2022 at 18:00, police officers from the KwaMashu Trio Task Team were on duty, when they received a report of a shooting by a group of men at E- Section in Zulu Road. They proceeded to the said place and police identified the group of men and requested to search them. Two firearms as well as a 16 rounds of ammunition were found in the possession of two men amongst the group of men.
The suspects were arrested and detained at KwaMashu SAPS. Preliminary investigations revealed that the Glock pistol was reported stolen in the Ntuzuma during the month of June 2015.
In another operation Sizwe Sikhosana (41) also appeared in the Ntuzuma Magistrate’s Court on 26 January 2022, for unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition, following his arrest by the KwaMashu Trio Task Team in Musa Road. He was remanded in custody until 2 February 2022.
