Suspects due in court for the possession of presumed stolen property and for firearm related charges

WESTERN CAPE – Police members in the Western Cape remain committed to combat crime that may threaten the safety of the community, and to bring the perpetrators of crime to book.

Members of the Maitland Flying Squad were busy with patrols in Milnerton area on Wednesday 04 May 2022 at around 15:00 when they spotted a suspicious vehicle. They gave chase and stopped the vehicle. Upon searching the occupants and the vehicle, they discovered presumed stolen property. Three suspects aged between 32 and 45 were arrested and detained on a charge of possession of presumed stolen property.

In an unrelated incident police members on patrol in Hanover Park responded to information in the early hours of Thursday morning 05 May 2022 and conducted a search at a home in Surwood Walk. The members confiscated a 9mm pistol with ammunition and a .38 Special Astra Revolver hidden in a pot in the kitchen. A 36-year-old man was arrested and detained for possession of a prohibited, and an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

Once charged the suspects are expected to make their respective court appearance in the Cape Town and Athlone Magistrates court on the mentioned charges.
