WESTERN CAPE – The endeavours of the Western Cape police to clamp down on serious and violent crimes led to the arrest of three suspects who are now facing charges of murder and the possession of unlicensed firearms in three separate cases over the weekend.
Last night at around 19:10 a 39-year-old man was shot and killed in Dove Road Parkwood in what we believe was a gang related murder. Investigations by detectives led to the arrest of a 30-year-old male during the early hours of this morning.
In an unrelated police intervention members of the Anti-Gang Unit were deployed in Parkwood for crime prevention duties when they spotted a suspicious male with a firearm in Blackbird Avenue. The 24-year-old suspect was pursued and arrested in possession of a 7.65 pistol and ammunition.
Meanwhile members of the AGU reacted on intelligence during the early hours of this morning at around 00:20 and arrested a 41-year-old man at his residence in Conrad Avenue in Ottery in possession of a 9mm pistol and ammunition.
Once charged, the three suspects are expected to make their court appearances in Wynberg to face the charges against them.
