WESTERN CAPE – Deployed to bring safety and security to the people of crime affected areas, members of the Maitland Flying Squad were patrolling the streets of Heideveld in Manenberg during the early hours of yesterday morning.
Their vigilance led to a suspicious person being apprehended after he discarded his firearm upon police presence. The discarded firearm, a 7.65 pistol without a serial number was found and seized. The 27-year-old suspect is expected to make his court appearance today in Athlone for the possession of a prohibited firearm and ammunition.
