Suspects behind bars for possession of a hijacked motor vehicle and unlicensed firearm

JOHANNESBURG CENTRAL - Police apprehended two suspects between the ages of 23 and 31 for possession of a hijacked motor vehicle and possession of unlicensed firearm at corners of President and Mooi Streets on 14 August 2022 at 13:00.

Police were busy with their routine crime prevention duties when they stopped and searched a suspicious Silver Grey Kia Picanto with two occupants inside.

The vehicle was positively linked to a hijacking case that was reported at Jeppe Police Station earlier this month. Police also recovered an unlicensed firearm and ammunition from the passenger.

Investigation is underway and the suspects will soon appear in the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court.

The Johannesburg Central Station Commander, Brigadier Perumal commended the vigilance displayed by the police. He urged members to intensify their stop and search because as it yields positive results.
